This is Hornby Lighthouse, on the South Head of Port Jackson (Sydney Harbour).
They first few were taken from the northern side of Sydney Harbour (Port Jackson), taken using a Praktica MTL3 (SLR camera) with a "Ranger" 500mm f8 mirror lens on Kodak 400 print film (consumer grade) push 1 stop to 800ASA by a pro lab, and scanned onto a Kodak Picture CD by a minilab. Adjustments were made in Paint Shop Pro v3.11. These were taken around 2002.

| This is the Taiko from Tønsberg, Norway. It is from the same company as the Tampa, the ship which little Johnny used to show us how much he could hate people who are different from "us". |

| Light visible in front of bridge. |
Finally I have gone for a walk to the light. These are taken using a Leica C11 APS camera on Fuji 200 print film, again scanned by a minilab.
![]() | Taken from the western side, showing the edge of a WW2 observation post or gunning position to the left. This is also shown above. Taken during July 2006, in the late afternoon light. |
![]() | Taken from the southern side, with the harbour entrance behind. |
Having run out of film, I resorted to the 640x480 pixel camera in my LG 'phone...
Yep, the perfectly good CDMA 'phone that "3" have made useless for anything but use as a camera and clock...
![]() | No colour-correction, so very yellow. |
![]() | The plaque above the door. |

This lighthouse is on south head, near Watson's Bay, and within the Sydney Harbour National Park.
You can drive there through the eastern suburbs. Use New South Head Road, Hopetoun Avenue, and Cliff Street. Be careful to avoid the "cross-city funnel", especially if you do not have a tag as there are all sorts of fees and fines if you don't (and evidently they can stuff up and still fine you even if you ring them and pay the toll).
You can also get to Watsons Bay by bus: 324, L24 or 325 (timetable and map); or ferry: (timetable).
Once you are at the track, there is about a 1km circuit of concrete footpath to get to the light. The path goes to the west (harbour side) of the naval base, past Lady Beach (nude beach).
Macquarie Lighthouse is also nearby, and easy to get to by road. You can also see a number of the channel markers, in the form of small white lighthouses in the harbour.
