I've received lots of requests asking how I learned HTML, which surprises and flatters me a bit. And I'm happy to answer such requests, but most of what I've learned is from the Web itself.

I'm wary of private hotlinks pages because they take so much time and bandwidth to maintain, and as a result most of them are woefully out of date most of the time. But I've made an exception here.

This is based on a page I created for my own use. Some of it may not be current, I only update it when it's worth my while. So it won't take the place of your own use of search engines (my favourites are HotBot and SavvySearch). But feel free to link to it or copy it if it is of use to you, and I'm always eager to learn about other useful sites.

I still use HTML-2, except for a very few useful Netscape extensions from Mozilla (Netscape version 1.1) which most other browsers now support anyway.

Webwork by Jay Boersma - heavily recommended, it very nearly obsoletes this page really
