So it's finally finished. Readers of this site will remember my old Special which was totalled by a dickhead driving a truck. Have a look at the old body page to see what happens when Fiat meets truck.

So off I went on the search of another body. Of course, I found a whole lot of other bodies after I settled on the one I bought, but that's the way it goes.

The one I've got was pretty shitty when I found it and it's just been bogged up for now to get it on the road, but I'll need to get it properly restored with steel very soon. For now, I'm just happy it's on the road. It's a bit off white. It's got the perfect dashboard out of the old Special. I want to get a custom made console but I'll wait until I've done something about a stronger gearbox (which will mean tunnel modifications) so the standard Special console is in there at the moment as are the crappy old vinyl floor coverings.

An interesting note on the subject of trans tunnels and consoles etc is that I'm fairly convinced that the tunnel for the Special is larger than the tunnel for the Sedan. The reason for this is that the Special console I have in there doesn't quite fit all the way up to underside of the dashboard. If you look at the photo, you can see there's a very sizeable gap. The only logical conclusion I can draw from this is that the Special had a larger tunnel, hence the top of the tunnel (where the console sits) was closer to the bottom of the dashboard!

Wheels are optional items from the 124 coupé series, magnesium alloy Cromodoras, 5½ x 13", wearing 175/70 Pirelli P400 tyres. I like them.

The two pics shown with steel wheels are with the FCCWA club rally wheels for Dubbo. These are 175/65x14 tyres on late model steel rims.
