Although my Sedan handles and stops better than your average Coupé, especially with its lowered and urethaned suspension, there's not much point without having the goods under the hood.

This is the current spec of my engine. So far, it's a simple exercise in "blueprinting" (more about that much misunderstood term later), bigger compression and quality carburettors. Happy to say that, even in this low state of tune, it really goes!!!

Not that I've had it tested, but from what I've read this engine in this spec should be worth about 130 bhp. With the weight advantage, that gives it more power-to-weight than any SS Commodore! So stick that up your arse General.

The other interesting thing about this conversion is that, believe it or not, the twin-cam seems to fit better in this than it did in my Coupé. In fact, I'm pretty sure it's an even better fit than the pushrod engine it replaces! There is one important thing though (and I forgot to get a picture of it last time I was in Oz). The cross member that supports the gearbox - you need to "slot" the bolt holes to allow the whole assembly to sit further back. Otherwise, the engine-mounts are forced to take up the strain as the engine sits further forward. Take a look at all the room around the engine bay. and I just love that aluminium cam cover!

That's the current spec. Having now moved to the UK, I'm close to a lot of exciting parts sources for potential hot-up bits when I eventually move back. First on the list is cams. As you can see, the engine's ready for it...

Later on, I really want to add programmable fuel injection and stick the lovely Dellortos in a museum. The eventual plan has always been to add a Sprintex-type supercharger. In the UK, I'm driving a modified Lancia Delta Integrale Evo1 so I've become accustomed to its 265 bhp and the little 124 is going to be difficult to go back to. But more power first requires a strong enough gearbox to hold it all in. I've got a while to plan it. Main thing at the moment is to get that body in shape.
