Symptoms
Difficulty installing TVGA 9400 series video adapters, or loss of
sync in DOS windows.
Hardware
Trident 9400 series video adapters
Problem
After changing display resolutions, the SVGA.EXE and VSVGA.SYS are
copied from the OS/2 CD/diskettes, overwriting Trident's special
versions of these binaries.
Procedure
After installing the Trident 9400 drivers, copy svga.exe and vsvga.sys into
the
x:\os2 and x:\os2\mdos directories respectively.
Notes
In fact, you can bypass the whole installation problem with the special
Trident drivers and just copy the svga.exe and vsvga.sys into the
locations specified above. Then install the 8900 drivers provided by
OS/2 install. I noticed that this cured my problem with the System
object too: when I installed the 9400 driver diskette, it used to take
forever to open this object for some reason. The only minus is that
you don't get 16-color drivers. Who needs 'em!
