25+ Group "Spit to Manly Walk"

These are a few pictures from a walk from The Spit to Manly, in Sydney. These were taken in early September 2001. You can see "Port Jackson", (as Sydney Harbour is officially known). The walk is along the northern side of the harbour, heading east towards to sea. It is around 8km, and take around 3 hours, including stops.

All photographs were taken using a Praktica MTL3 (SLR camera) with a Fuji 50 mm, f1.4 lens on Fuji Professional 800 print film, and scanned onto a Kodak Picture CD by the minilab. Adjustments were made in Paint Shop Pro v3.11.

The groupThe group crossing a small bridge, a few minutes from the start. This is at the head of Fisher Bay, which has a larege area of sand in it. We are nearing Clontarf.
Over Grotto Pt.
DetailAbove and left. Looking SSW over Grotto Point towards HMAS Penguin (Naval base) and Balmoral Beach. The white dome is the roof of Grotto Point Lighthouse. There is a track to the lighthouse, but this would have added 1.6km to the walk, and the turn off is after a steep climb, so it didn't feel like a good idea at the time... The detail shows the buildings of Bondi Junction and the microwave tower at Waverley.
