OWNERS - PEPSI DELOREAN (Victoria)

The "Pepsi" DeLorean was first prize in a Back To The Future competition in 1985. It was road tested in the December '85 issue of Modern Motor Magazine, and although they weren't overly impressed with its power and handling, it scored a 10 in the style department. The article has been reproduced in the DeLorean Gold Portfolio, and for those of you who'd like to check it out it's available from the Pitstop Bookshop (Australia) and the DeLorean Owners Association (United States).

In the mid-to-late 90's, a DeLorean was periodically showing up at the Shannons Auctions in Melbourne. As far as I know, every time it went up for auction it was passed-in (ie., nobody bought it). Thanks to photos provided by Anthony Woolley, who was also following these auctions closely, I've come to believe this car (now known as "HOTDMC") was formerly the Pepsi DeLorean. Obviously the "PEPSI" number plates would not have been on the DeLorean long after the competition in 1985 due to their value to Pepsico, but because this car shares the same features as that "Pepsi" DeLorean, I'm sure this is the same car. Most notable are the front driving lights, which in the photos appear to be the same type and brand as the Pepsi Delorean's, also significant is the relief lines in the hood and the black interior. New to this car however are the 'dumper' exhaust pipes.

The Pepsi DeLorean is now owned by Andrew Anderson.
