ToneGen1: Tone generation unit
Tone generation and testing unit
- Based on 89C2051 - an 8051 derivative microprocessor
- R2R D/A converter to generate tone
- Uses analog switches to steer test tones and results
- Programmed in assembler to produce pure 1khz tone
- Simple straight forward test equipment built for customer project
The Tone generator was a simple project built as a test unit for a
customer design job. We use two analog switches controlled by the
microprocessor code - one switch controls the signal going to the op-amp
that drives the output, the other switch actually steers the results from the
tone detector (the item on the clients board that is being tested) to light the
appropriate LEDs. This unit worked quite well, considering the low parts count.
